It all started with one child with determination, imagination and a plan. She had to build a Cookie Stand so she could design her baking goods and sell them to her friends. First she made the stand out of blocks. The sign was carefully crafted with cookies with rainbow coloured chips, and the word “Cookies” written across the top.

She selected the colours brown, red, and yellow plasticine to make her play cookies with her friends. When the other children noticed her they quickly became interested in tailoring their own types of cookies to sell. They all squished, flattened, and smooshed the plasticine in different shapes to come up with a new type of cookie. Sometimes they had a specific idea in mind and designed the cookie to match the picture they had in their head.  These were cookies with coloured chips, caramels, cherries, cookies with ketchup, banana splits, and gingerbread men on skateboards with lightsabers.

Other children mixed the plasticine into different shapes, and decided what they had made after the cookie was completed. This turned into chicken meatballs, a chicken cookie, candy, cookie pancakes and a cookie sandwich.
Once completed the cookies were carefully moved onto the cookie stand and children and adults were invited by proud and excited bakers to select a cookie to test out. Of course they were delicious!

It was a wonderful hour that started with one special creative spark that blossomed into a whole hour of building vocabulary, fine motor manipulation, all with a dramatic flair.
