The air was crisp and clear; the heat of the sun warming up cheeks, coloured pink with excitement. Our first fall field trip was to St. Vital Park, a place that celebrates all the changes of the season. Our field trip began with the much anticipated ride on the bus, fondly called the “Bruce Bus” after our adored bus driver. Whether the children travelled singing favourite songs, or playing “I Spy”, it’s always a treat to ride so high and laugh with our friends.

We were greeted by a flock of hungry geese who hissed, honked and flapped their wings a t each other. It was fun to throw down popcorn kernels for them to quickly gobble up. Here at K.I.D.S. Inc., we have talked about the birds that fly south for the winter, but it something special to see the hundreds congregate before their great flight south.

The climber challenged the children to practice their gross motor skills. Their imagination led them to believe they could climb a spider web like super heros, run like the wind, swing from monkey bars or climb vertical bars. This latter physical ability proved to be quite a challenge for many children, and they chose to carefully descend the bars by coordinating their feet and hands safely to the ground.

It was truly an adventure to remember!
